What is the Chamber of Commerce?

Mission Statement:

The Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce mission is to nurture a vibrant, dynamic and diverse business environment and community through promotion of and advocacy for the membership. This will be accomplished through a partnership of members, community and board.

The Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce will:

  • promote private enterprise through a fair, competitive & open market.
  • promote our members first.
  • support the democratic process.
  • be responsible to members through open and transparent processes.
  • be conscious of community impact when making decisions and policies.

Member First Policy:

Each day the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce staff receives inquiries from near and far.  Many of these ask where they can find a particular product or service.  It is our policy to refer to a member first every time.

Newsletter:

The Chamber of Commerce Update, the official publication of the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce, is distributed quarterly to over 1200 local businesses.  It includes articles and updates of interest to Chamber members.  Advertising in the Update is very cost effective in this widely read newsletter, and is a member-only benefit. Blast Fax:

The Chamber of Commerce Weekly update keeps  members informed about upcoming events, Community and Chamber news.  This is a one page publication that goes out every two weeks to Chamber membership.

E-Mail Newsletter:

The Chamber of Commerce  E-mail newsletter combines Chamber related articles with links to the Chamber website pertaining to news and upcoming events.  This publication goes out  to Chamber membership every 2 weeks.

After Hours Mixer:

After hours mixers are a great opportunity for the business community to meet and network with each other. The diversity of the group creates excellent networking opportunities, interesting discussions, and interaction. Business cards are exchanged and new contacts are made, participants are served food and beverages as the After Hours Mixer sponsor determines. Mingle with a diverse group of professionals in a friendly, fun and comfortable environment with prizes, appetizers, refreshments, and networking.  The Chamber of Commerce After Hours Mixers are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month 4:30 - 6:30 PM with the exception of July and August when a mixer is not held.

Business Week / Awards:

Each year, during Business Week, the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce picks a local 'Business of the Year' and a 'Rookie Business of the Year' to receive recognition at the Gala Banquet and Awards night.  In addition, awards are presented for:

  • Lifetime Achievement
  • City Ambassador
  • Non-Profit Organization of the Year
  • Customer Service Award
  • Community Involvement Award

In 2001, the 'Business Integrity Award' was added and sponsored by the Rotary Club.  The Chamber also sponsors seminars and workshops to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.

Programs:

A variety of programs including Christmas Preview, one of the biggest sales events in our city, All Candidates Forums, and meetings with political leaders are sponsored throughout the year.

Speak Up:

Through the use of news releases, news conferences and presentations to all levels of government, the Chamber acts as your representative for constructive change.  If you are a member but do not have time to work on a committee, you can still make your voice heard by calling the Chamber office.

Membership Roster:

The Membership Roster lists all Chamber Members and promotes doing business with fellow Chamber Members.  The Membership Roster is available to Chamber members upon request.
