In 2017 the Lloydminster Chamber effected big change twice! Once on the provincial level and once on the federal level. $5 million in grant rebates for Lloydminster AB fuel retailers and Chambers saved businesses across Canada millions in proposed tax changes revisions.
Advocacy Win: AB Govt Provides Carbon Levy Grant to Lloydminster, AB Fuel Retailers
On March 9, 2017, the Alberta Government announced grants for Lloydminster fuel retailers to offset the difference between the total carbon levy and fuel tax in Alberta and the fuel tax in Saskatchewan. Grants will be available for Lloydminster fuel retailers which will apply to gasoline, diesel, and propane.
The Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC) first started discussing this issue in September 2016…
The following 2014 policies will be removed from our policy book as they are considered resolved:
- Improvements to the Lloydminster Airport: NAV Canada has approved the application made by the City of Lloydminster for the upgrade to the LPV system and the LPV system is operational.
- Creating a Safer Community: The Lloydminster Chamber worked with local volunteers to create an adhoc committee. Later the committee formed into the Lloydminster Crime Prevention Society which is in the process of being under the umbrella of the Lloydminster Drug Strategy Committee. The Crime Prevention Society will be bringing in a coordinator to work with community volunteer groups such as neighborhood watch and citizens on patrol, the coordinator will also liaise with the City of Lloydminster.
