Canadian Chamber AGM & Conference in Quebec City 2008
October 6, 2008
CANADIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AGM & POLICY SESSION
Alberta sent a strong contingent to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM in Quebec City October 3 to 6. The 34 delegates, including Lloydminster’s Executive Director, were able to represent all Alberta Chambers that belong to the Canadian Chamber. As a result, the voting delegation was the third-highest provincial/territorial delegation at the conference, behind only Ontario (87) and B.C. (50). There were 233 voting delegates at the policy session.
Alberta Chambers of Commerce hosted a Northern and Prairie Caucus meeting the morning of the policy session with 52 delegates from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon, and the N.W.T. Alberta’s Chambers sponsored or co-sponsored 11 resolutions. All were approved. As well, a late resolution from Sherwood Park went straight to the board of directors as a referral. Five of the adopted Alberta-sponsored national policies mirror policies approved at ACC's 2008 AGM. During the 4.5-hour policy session, national delegates approved 56 resolutions, defeated five, referred three to the board of directors, and withdrew one.
