ANNUAL POLICY DEBATE |

Some of the most important work that Chambers of Commerce do involves being a strong advocate for the community and in particular the business community. Almost everything that happens in a community from health care, education, infrastructure, taxation and community development affects a business's ability to grow and prosper.
"Strong and healthy businesses make for strong and healthy communities."
The Political Action Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, along with President Glenn Fagnan, invite Chamber members to participate in the annual policy debate which will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at 11:30am in the Workshop Room of the Community Services Centre.
Some of the topics up for debate include:
Public TransportationTrade, Investment & Labour MobilityTraffic Congestion on Highway 17.
Lunch will be provided so it is important to call the Chamber office to register by Feb. 7th at 875-9013

BYLAW AMENDMENT MOTION |

The Chamber of Commerce board of directors will be putting forth a motion at the Annual General Meeting to amend the bylaw regarding financial auditing. The suggested amendment/inclusion refers to Article 3:03 and is shown in bold italics below:
Auditing: The books, accounts and records of the Chamber of Commerce shall be audited or reviewed each year by a chartered accountant (certified general accountant, or certified management accountant) elected for that purpose at the Annual General Meeting. A complete and proper statement of the standing of the books for the previous year shall be submitted by such accountant for the consideration of the members at the AGM.
