Advocacy & Policy

Through the use of news releases, news conferences and presentations to all levels of government, the Chamber acts as your representative for constructive change.

Your Lloydminster Chamber is your Voice for Business. The Chamber, an organization made strong by a membership of hundreds of businesses and organizations advocates on issues that affect your business and your community.
When your Chamber joins the network of Chambers across Alberta, Saskatchewan and/or Canada, the voice for positive change becomes very powerful indeed.

The advocacy work that the Chamber does on behalf of it’s members is some of the most important work that the Chamber does.

The Policy Resolution Process

Each year, members are invited to participate with the board of directors to determine the policy direction for the year. Local resolutions are taken to the City of Lloydminster, Provincial Issues are presented at the Alberta & Saskatchewan Chambers AGM in May and federal issues are presented through the Canadian Chamber in September. The Lloydminster Chamber has authored and taken forward many policy resolutions that have seen changes made in legislation or actions at all levels of government.

Annually you are invited to participate in this important work of your Chamber to consider what policies issues we will work on for the next year. If you are interested in the Political Action Committee call the Chamber office at 780-875-9013.

The Political Action Committee

The Political Action committee is responsible for community scans to determine what the most pressing issues are facing businesses in Lloydminster and then bringing those issues to the table for discussion and possible action in the form of a formal policy resolution. The issues might be municipal, provincial or national in nature. Our Chamber has been quite successful when our voice is joined with other Chambers across the provinces and the nation in having governments listen to our suggestions and recommendations.

If you are a member but do not have time to work on a committee, you can still make your voice heard by calling the Chamber office or participating in the annual Policy Roundtable.
