Selected Issues for 2020
Increased Flights and Air Service out of the Lloydminster Airport (CYLL)
Presently, the Lloydminster Airport (CYLL) only provides scheduled passenger service to and from Calgary (YYC). Daily roundtrip service is offered once per day in the late afternoon, six days per week. This increases to seven days a week for the summer starting in late April. These flights are consistently exceeding 80% capacity and public feedback has been critical of the offered flight times. If more flights and destinations can be offered from CYLL, it will increase the quality of life for the people and businesses of Lloydminster and the overall attractiveness of the City.
Fair & Equitable Funding for and Timely Implementation of Health Care Services in Lloydminster
The City of Lloydminster and its surrounding community is unique because it straddles the boundary of both provinces and serves as a center for health care services for citizens from both provinces. On July 28, 2014, with the signing of an MOU, the Provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta recognized the Lloydminster Bi-Provincial Health Care Services area, as an accurately defined bi-provincial health care area of joint provincial responsibility. A permanent Bi-Provincial Health Services Committee was created to ensure the unique health service needs of the border community are addressed and that fair and equitable services be appropriately funded.
